News from Ankara changed Bergama’s agenda to a free zone that will employ 20 thousand people.

An important meeting was held in Ankara about Western Anatolia Free Zone (BASBAŞ), a priority for the region, to prevent unemployment. Mayor of Bergama Hakan Koştu said, “Unemployment will no longer be a problem for Bergama after Western Anatolia Free Zone (BASBAŞ)”.

The meeting in Ankara took place with participation of the Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş, Mayor of Bergama Hakan Koştu, Justice and Development Party Vice President Hamza Dağ, Justice and Development Party Head of Izmir Branch Kerem Ali Sürekli and Aegean Free Zone Development and Operating Co. (ESBAŞ) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Faruk Güler, who evaluated the studies carried out over time.

Koştu: “New investment and employment opportunities will be created in Bergama with BASBAŞ”

Stating that 20 thousand people will be employed in the Western Anatolia Free Zone to be established in Aşağıkırıklar District, Mayor Koştu said, "Thousands of our young people will have employment opportunities in Bergama. The feasibility report of our Western Anatolia Free Zone, whose project studies are being carried out by ESBAŞ on an area of 2.5 million square meters in our Aşağıkırıklar neighborhood, was submitted to the General Directorate of Free Zones Overseas Investment and Services. Later, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave the good news that the Western Anatolia Free Zone would be opened during his visit to Bergama on February 22, 2020. Since that day, together with ESBAŞ CEO Dr. Faruk Güler, we continue our efforts for the Western Anatolia Free Zone, with the support of our President. Unemployment will be prevented not only in Bergama but also in Bakırçay Region with the Western Anatolia Free Zone."
