As a guest of the online press conference organized by the Izmir Branch of the Economy Reporters Association, Dr. Faruk Güler reminded that BASBAŞ, which will be established on an area of 2.5 million square meters in Bergama's Aşağıkırıklar area, was established with the permission of the Ministry of Commerce and submitted the prepared feasibility report to the General Directorate of Free Zones Foreign Investment and Services. Dr. Güler said, "We are currently working with the General Directorate of Foreign Investments and Services for Free Zones."
Reminding what they have said at the beginning of the year about the region being commissioned after 2 years, Dr. Faruk Güler said, “I hope that we will start receiving investors there at the beginning of 2022. BASBAŞ is a long-term project. We believe that the transportation projects in the North Aegean will develop the entire region in a very important way and we know that they will make a great contribution to the industrialists. The new region will both provide a great transportation advantage to the industrialists and develop Bergama, Kınık and Dikili. New job opportunities will be created for 20 thousand people directly and 120,000 people indirectly.” Stating that working conditions have become difficult for all companies due to the measures taken to combat the epidemic, Güler pointed out that normalization will begin in June in ESBAŞ and said: "But from now on, we will not work as before. At least we won't have meetings like we used to. Our services will be more careful than before. We will be paying attention to our social distancing in all of our operations."
Murat Demircan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EMD Izmir Branch, also stated that they mediate the institutions to convey their work to the public through online press conferences during the epidemic process.
