The Western Anatolia Free Zone (BASBAŞ), which is expected to employ 20,000 workers at 120 companies when all stages are completed, will be the first region to have 5G technology, which is required for wireless communication of machines. The first two factories in BASBAŞ, whose infrastructure has been completed, will start production in February.

BASBAŞ, the third free zone of Izmir, is located in Bergama and has a total area of 2.5 million square meters. It will host 120 companies and provide employment opportunities for 20,000 young people in the surrounding districts.

BASBAŞ CEO Dr. Faruk Güler and BASBAŞ Deputy General Manager Ümit Murat Güner, who gave the first presentation at BASBAŞ to the Board of Directors of the Economy Reporters Association (EMD) İzmir Branch, gave journalists information about the progress by taking them around the region.

CEO Dr. Faruk Güler said that the region will soon be like a rose garden and said, "There are no open roses yet, but the first buds of the roses have started to appear. Just as the buds open overnight and become roses, the works we have done here have become buds and factories will be opened quickly, like the opening of roses very soon."
